Madicon 23 is now over.

Let me tell you, it was one hell of an experience. I could not have asked for a better weekend or better situation for the convention. And best of all, we had well over 400 people show up at Madicon this year, which blows my mind (and we broke last year’s attendance record). Thank you to everybody for all of your complements throughout the weekend and for making this the best Madicon EVER! Be on the lookout in the next few days for a Madicon 23 feedback form.

…now, I must sleep/rest

-Chris Slattery, Conchair for Madicon 23

Madicon Opens Today!

Good morning, con-goers!

Madicon opens at 2pm today, so please keep a couple things in mind:

– All attendees must show a valid form of ID. Be sure to have one on you.

– There’s still some weather towards north that’s a little precarious, so please be careful when driving. Harrisonburg will be a balmy 62 degrees, but temperatures at night will plunge, so please make sure to pack for the typical unpredictable weather.

– Be sure to download the guidebook app:

See you all this afternoon!

Madicon Costume Contest

The costume contest is back this year! Signups for the contest will be all day on Friday and Saturday morning next to the registration tables. Judging will take place at 11 AM on Saturday March 15th at designated area as indicated by the convention maps. Please sign up and show up early to everything so as to ensure your spot!

This years judges will be Jackie Guerrier, constructed costume crafter and conchair of Madicons past, and Elizabeth Strauss, owner of Prelude Design and a guru with needle and thread.

For information on rules and regulations regarding the costume contest, please go to the Costume Contest section of the website.

Darkland Moors

Danger and Adventure on the Darkland Moors!

Fighters, clerics, thieves, magic-users, elves, dwarves, and halflings are needed to explore the Darkland Moors. Why are so many orcs scouring the moors, concentrating on a ruined castle? What could be the cause of the rumors of a giant that is terrorizing towns to the north? What is the Barrowmaze? Find out, and be a hero, or just get rich! Old-school Dungeons & Dragons sandbox-style gaming using the Labyrinth Lord retroclone rules.

Part 1 will be on Friday night at 7pm. Part 2 will be on Saturday night at 7pm. (You don’t need to have played in Part 1 to play in Part 2.)

The Labyrinth Lord fantasy role-playing game allows you to experience the game play of the earliest editions of the world’s most popular fantasy role-playing game. The Labyrinth Lord rules emulate the rules and game play experience of the Moldvay 1981 D&D Basic set.
