I hope the holidays are proving to be a delightful event for everyone. After a long absence from updating this website due to schoolwork, I have brought the Madicon webpage fully up-to-date.

You will see updates in the Guest, Events, Vendors, and Forms pages.

If you are interested in being a vendor, running an event at the con, or entering your art into the artist auction you’ll find those papers under the Forms tab.

Madicon is also now open for Pre-Registration!

The rates you will find on the main page, and the pre-reg form on the Forms tab.

We plan on getting a paypal set up, but right now it is still a work in progress.

Also, the official Madicon 21 Flyer has been posted under the Forms tab, help Madicon by spreading the word and posting flyers!

This update has been a long time coming. I apologize in advance to anyone who has visited this site and found no new information. At last the wait is over!

Madicon 21 will be held the second weekend of Spring Break, March 9-11, 2012. This is a three-day sci-fi/fantasy convention which takes place in James Madison University’s Festival Center.

Each year we host tons of events, panels, enjoy guests and presentations, and make new friends!

Expect to see a lot of updates regarding guests and events shortly, as well as a lot of changes on the site.

I hope this brief update has piqued various interests and I look forward to giving Madicon 21 my best in the following year.

Thanks are in order to all our guests, and to those members of SFFG who worked all weekend from set-up to tear-down to make the event excellent. Thanks to our wonderful vendors and sponsors.

We had some good surprises this year, last minute vendors who were awesome, a huge charity auction, and a great rave.

Overall, attendance this year was a little over 270 and we made over $900 for our charity, The Virginia Wildlife Center.

From Vampires to Shadowrunners, LARPs to Cats that Look Like Ron Swanson — throw in a little nostalgia, a little anime, and just a dash of Pro Wrestling and you’ve got a Madicon!

Come out and Dance at the Rave, get judged in the Costume Contest, play a game, or join in the singing at Geek Karaoke — I hope you’ll have fun — and I’ll see you this weekend!

“Masquerade is the term vampires use to describe the hidden nature of their existence from mortal humans. The vampiric residents of the Shenandoah Valley strive to keep the Masquerade as any sane vampire would. But when something questionable threatens this breach, the residents find themselves attending a large gathering of mortals known as Madicon. Will the vampires blend in and circumvent disaster or will such heroics end up breaking the Masquerade instead?”

Vampire: The Requiem is being brought to you by the local chapter of the Camarilla, an international LARP organization that creates a global chronicle using White Wolf’s World of Darkness systems. Awesome pre-generated characters will be available for those not part of the Camarilla. (18+)

Friday Night:

“Voyage of the Damned”

Some secrets are best left undiscovered. However some secrets are best
left out of the hands of those that would use them for evil. On a voyage
across the sea, a package that must be kept out of the hands of those that
willing to kill for it must be protected. Agents hell bent on recovering
this package will stop at nothing to get it. Only those that know the true
power of this secret will be able to stop them and save humanity in the
process.

Set in 1938, on board a luxury liner making its trans-Atlantic run from
England to America. Costumes are Encouraged. A MadiCon Exclusive!

Saturday Night:

“Rapture Under The Stars”

So far, the 1985 Armitage Senior High Homecoming celebration has been one for the history books. On Thursday night the bonfire pep rally was ended early when a meteor hit nearby, killing a local farmer. Then last night at the big game, the star quarterback turned into a hairy monster right there on the field and was last seen fleeing into the woods. Tonight’s the big dance and the students are buzzing with rumors of what might happen next. Some are calling it all a prank by the upperclassmen, but others think it may be leading up to something big. As the faculty strive to squelch the rumor mill and hold a nice, wholesome event, the students are ready for a night they won’t ever forget.
