Why hold Madicon on the James Madison campus instead of in a hotel?
The Festival Center offers us a great space for our convention, and as a student organization, we can use the space for free. This allows us to devote more of our resources to our guests and events, making Madicon better for everyone.
Why isn’t there a children’s rate?
Madicon is a small convention and we cannot offer a special rate to children for financial reasons. Also, you may find that there are not a lot of activities that young children will enjoy. Several of our games, roleplaying and computer, contain mature themes and graphic violence that may not be appropriate for young children. The majority of our attendees are teenagers or adults and the convention activities are designed to appeal to those age groups.
