Madicon 21

We always enjoy the Art Show at Madicon, and the Auction is a premiere event of Sunday afternoon.

Info for Artists:

Artist Registration:
• An Artist Registration form must be received by Sunday, February 20, 2012 to guarantee panel space. Artist Registration forms may be found here and can be sent by post or email.
• Art is displayed on 4’ x 4’ panels. Please inform us how many panels you would like to reserve when sending in the Artist Registration Form.

Fees:

• There are no hanging fees; however, Madicon takes a 10% commission on any art that is sold.
• Artists are responsible for all postage required to send their art to and from Madicon.

Art Submission Requirements:

• A minimum bid for each piece is required.
• Art pieces that do not go to auction may be sold on Sunday, after the auction if the artist provides an “After Auction” price.
• Bid sheets can be found here. Please attach one to each piece being submitted with easily removable tape.
• All art must be received by Friday, March 2, 2012 to be displayed.

  Please send an email to contact.madicon@gmail.com when art has been sent so we can be on the look out for it.

• If email address for the artist is provided, an email confirmation will be sent to the artist when the art arrives.
• Artists must provide return postage for unsold art and payment. Please include the correct addresses for art to be returned to.
• If there are any special display needs that are required, please contact us before sending art so we can work out the details.

After the Auction:

• Unsold art and payment will be sent out no later than 6 weeks after the auction date (April 22, 2012). If the artist wishes to be contacted by email when their art has been sent back, please include an email address with the return mailing address.

We also host a Charity auction to benefit our favorite charity, The Wildlife Center of Virginia. If you wish to donate a piece to the charity auction, please contact us. 100% of the proceeds from the charity auction will go to the Wildlife Center.

Info for Con-goers:

• The Art Room will have the following hours:
  

  Friday, March 9, 2012:		2:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  Saturday, March 10, 2012:		9:00 am – 7:00 pm
  Sunday, March 11, 2012:		9:00 am – 11:00 am

• Bids may be placed on art by any con-goer with a badge number during the time the Art Room is open.
• To bid on a piece, con-goers will need to record their name, badge number, and bid on the bid sheet for the piece of art.
• Bids must be at least the artist’s minimum bid, or if the con-goer is bidding on a piece that already has bids, his bid must be greater than the largest bid.
• Bids must be whole dollar amounts.
• Photography will not be allowed in the Art Room.

Art Auction:

• The Art Auction will be held at Noon on Sunday, March 11, 2012.
• Any piece with two or more bids will automatically go to auction.
• On Saturday night (March 10, 2012), after the Art Room closes, a highlighted line will be placed on bid sheets of pieces with one or zero bids. Any piece that receives a bid after this line (on Sunday morning) will also go to auction.
• Pieces with only one bid will be sold to the con-goer at the bid price after the auction on Sunday.
• Winning bidders will be able to purchase their art after the auction. Only cash and personal checks (made to Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild) will be accepted.
• If a piece has a After Auction sale price, and does not go to auction, it will not be sold until after the Sunday auction has completed.

Important: Do not place bids you will not honor. By placing a bid on a piece or by bidding in the auction, you are entering in a contract with the artist and the convention that you will purchase the piece at the price you bid if you win the auction.

Madicon reserves the right to make changes to these rules if necessary.
